Switzerland: Consultation on the revision of the Ordinance on epizootic diseases

On 15 February 2024, the Federal Department of Home Affairs initiated a consultation on the revision of the Epizootic Diseases Ordinance. This revision includes adapted measures to combat bovine viral diarrhoea (BVD) and the classification of border disease in cattle as a new animal disease to be combated. In addition, cryptosporidiosis – an intestinal disease that can affect various animal species – has been removed from the catalogue of diseases to be monitored. The consultation phase is scheduled to run until 24 May 2024.
