Belgium: Ban on import of hunting trophies from endangered species

On 25 January 2024, the Belgian Parliament unanimously adopted a ban on the import of hunting trophies of protected species that are threatened with extinction or could become so if trade is not restricted. The ban affects species such as cheetahs, jaguars, lions, tigers, African elephants, rhinos, various turtles, alligators, lemurs and northern hairy-nosed wombats.
