UK: The Animals (Low-Welfare Activities Abroad) Act passed into law
23-10-2023
The new Animals (Low-Welfare Activities Abroad) Act prohibits the sale or advertising of certain types of animal tourism experiences abroad involving captive animals who are subjected to inhumane training methods, used for selfies or rides, or are drugged or declawed. This newly established law applies to England and Northern Ireland and will enable the government to ban the advertising and sale of such animal experiences through secondary legislation.
