International: New WOAH series on One Health and Animal Health

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), in partnership with BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, has launched Animals & Us, a new documentary series exploring the interconnected health of animals, humans, and ecosystems. The series highlights how animal health affects human well-being and showcases initiatives from around the world that seek to create healthier environments for both people and animals. Through a collection of stories featuring researchers, veterinarians, farmers, conservationists, and local communities, Animals & Us illustrates the practical relevance of the One Health approach. The launch comes at a time of significant environmental change. According to WOAH, agricultural systems now occupy approximately 50% of the planet’s habitable land, while global wildlife populations have declined by an average of 69% since 1970. As human activities continue to reshape ecosystems, the relationship between humans and animals is evolving rapidly, with important implications for animal welfare, biodiversity, food systems, and public health.
