International: U.S. Government Releases First National One Health Plan

14-01-2025

On January 10, 2025, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of the Interior (DOI) jointly released the first National One Health Framework to Address Zoonotic Diseases and Enhance Public Health Preparedness in the United States. These agencies represent critical sectors of the One Health approach within the U.S. government, with the CDC focusing on public health, the USDA on domestic animal health, and the DOI on wildlife and environmental health. Historically, all three have collaborated on One Health issues and the control of zoonotic diseases that impact both humans and animals. The new framework outlines a shared vision, mission, and goals for advancing One Health collaboration among federal partners over the next five years.
