Switzerland: Report from the FSVO (Federal Office for Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs)

On 11 November 2024, the H5N1 avian influenza virus was detected in a dead swan in the canton of Uri.
This was the first detection of the virus in Switzerland this season.
In consultation with the FSVO, the laboratory of the cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Zug has now set up a control and monitoring area.
Livestock owners in the control area are now subject to certain conditions.
